Where language
meets community
Hola, somos Zenda!
We created Zenda as a space for people to share, learn, and grow. We want to share what we learn with our students differently. We want to be out in the community, speaking, listening, and experiencing Spanish as it should be, naturally. Languages — and any skill — is best learned when practiced, and here at Zenda we’re all about learning in the “real world”.
Meet the team
Rafa, Co-founder & Finance Teacher
Raphael grew up in Canada and studied finance and accounting at the University of Western Ontario. He spent summer internships at the United Nations and a Fortune 500 company. Upon graduating in 2020 he worked for two years as a lecturer in Accounting and Finance. Before starting Zenda, Raphael traveled throughout South America primarily living in Mexico City and Buenos Aires before settling down in Medellín. Raphael is passionate about all things learning, whether it’s new phrases in Spanish, how to prepare better coffee, or going to new places curiosity is always at the helm of most decisions.
Juan, Co-founder & Spanish Teacher
Juan grew up in a small town in Antioquia, Yolombó where he had a peaceful childhood. When Juan turned 18 he moved to Medellin where he started to gain a greater perspective of Colombia and the world. Juan was always skilled in English and was able to get a job as a server in a restaurant in El Poblado and was able to further his English and learnings through interactions with foreigners. Juan worked as a Spanish Teacher at a Spanish School in Medellin for over two and a half years before starting the next chapter of his life with Zenda.
Spanish Classes
Learning at Zenda is based off learning in the real world. Our teachers focus on the practical parts of learning Spanish as an additional language by going beyond the confines of a classroom. Each week there are programmed outings in Medellin to various cultural and natural locations. We think it’s important to get outside to learn!
Finance Classes
Learning about Finance and Accounting can be fun rather than stressful. Our classes are geared at different groups depending on your knowledge and goals. We have classes for students looking to budget and save their money, entrepreneurs for how to manage their cash flows, people close to retirement who want to manage their investments, and other topics — we’re open to suggestions.
